Downtown St. Pete Restaurant Lands In Top 50 On Nationwide Yelp List
I’m a Yelp fan. When I travel and want to eat, I don’t look for chains. I’ve gotta have something unique that I can’t have here in Tampa. When I’m in Maine visiting family, I seek out a great lobster roll. When I went to Barcelona for the first time last year, I found what might be the best pizza I ever had thanks to Yelp.
That said, Yelp can help you find great local spots too. There are always little hole in the wall places that you drive by everyday. I’ll never forget the first time I had the chicken parmesan at Italia Mia in St. Pete or the honey garlic chicken lunch special at China Wok at 301 and Adamo in Tampa near Brandon. I would have never noticed either of these spots had it not been for their Yelp reviews.
Yelp is out with their best of the best for 2020. It’s a list of 100 hot spots to eat all over the country. A St. Pete German restaurant I’ve never heard of cracked the Top 50. Congratulations to German Knodle. They’re located at 951 Central Ave downtown St. Pete. One reviewer on Yelp says it’s a one man operation. The menu is full of sausages, sandwiches, and salads. There are German beers (big selling point for me) and reviewers seem to love their schnitzel. Looks like the place is fairly new. Here are some pics I found on Instagram. There aren’t many yet. They’ve got a little under 100 reviews on Yelp, but a perfect 5 star rating.
I’ll have to give this place a try, but until I do, here are MY favorite St. Pete spots:
