Where The Smoke In The Tampa Area Is Coming From
People in Pasco County and Hillsborough County have taken to social media concerned about the smell of smoke. There’s really no cause for the concern. They’re doing another controlled burn up in Levy County almost 100 miles from Tampa. Problem is the winds have picked up and blown the smoke into our area. But that’s the irony. The winds are why they’re doing the burn in the first place. It helps the fire spread faster. The 2 areas in the Goethe State Forest where they’re doing the burn cover about 7,000 acres.
The smoke got so bad last night that Channel 8 reports air quality levels reached “unhealthy points” for kids and elderly. The smoke also poses a problem for those with breathing difficulties. Channel 8
