Tampa International Airport Adding 5 More Daily Flights To Miami
I’ve had this debate a bunch of times. If you’re going to Fort Lauderdale or Miami, why fly? You’ll still need to get to the airport early, wait for boarding, fly and then get from the airport to where you’re staying. Plus you need to fly on their schedule not yours. I’m not a fan of long drives, but at least with driving you can jump in the car when you like and be there in almost the same amount of time. Don’t get me wrong, I love our airport. Nothing makes you appreciate Tampa International Airport more than when you’re flying home from some overcrowded enormous airport with long lines and terrible layout.
That said, Tampa International is adding five flights a day from Tampa to Miami. It’s probably mostly for those who are connecting to fly from Miami to international cities that Tampa doesn’t serve. Miami certainly has more flights to Europe and Latin America destinations than we do. But for those who would rather fly to South Beach, you’ll have more times to choose from now.
The new flighs start May 4. TIA’s web site says that Delta will be offering lower prices as an introductory offer. Until now, only American Airlines has flown direct to Miami from Tampa.
