Wallendas Facing Criticism Over Using Safety Harness During Stunts
Last night, Sarasota’s Nik Wallenda had everyone’s heart racing as he walked the wire over the Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua. Equally amazing was his wife Erendira who did an incredible aerial performance before his walk. But some on social media are saying that the stunts didn’t impress them much since the husband and wife duo were both wearing a harness.
Emilee Bullock on YouTube regarding Erendira’s routine:
“Not saying she isn’t talented in any way but I think the harness takes away from the thrill of the performance. Please don’t get me wrong, she has so much skill, but I was just never on the edge of my seat.”
Anonymous commenter “Me Tube”:
“I would pay an admission fee to do this… they’re strapped to a cable… it’s probably safer than your local amusement park roller coaster.”
Others said it felt like they were watching a 30 minute plug for a book he’s writing. But this tweet from Jen Davis pretty much says it all from their critics:
When I see him wearing a safety harness, secured to the cable above him... #VolcanoLive pic.twitter.com/qtax2pmLqJ
