Clearwater Concert Announcement Is the First In Weeks

Since the phrase “social distancing” became a phrase in our daily vocabulary, many of us who love live music have had to settle for at-home concerts online.  But Ruth Eckerd Hall is giving us a glimmer of hope today with an announcement of a concert in August.  It’s the first big show announced in 2020 in weeks here in the Tampa Bay area. Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo will play Clearwater August 12. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 10 for $49, $69 and $89. If you want to do it up big, there’s also a “photo op” package for $325 that gets you a seat in the first 10 rows, some special merch and a moment for a photo with Pat before the show.

With so much uncertainty given how the news evolves daily about the coronavirus, it’s possible the show and others scheduled will be postponed. But here’s a running list of scheduled show for now!

• April 25: Vanilla Ice & C+C Music Factory at SeaWorld in Orlando

  Sadly this will likely be postponed if it hasn't been already. At last check, SeaWorld still has this concert listed, but they are unsure when the park will be open.

• April 26: Christopher Cross at Capitol Theatre in Clearwater (POSTPONED)

  It was announced last week that the singer has had a bout with COVID-19 himself. So many classics like "Sailing," "Arthur's Theme ("The Best That You Can Do"), "Thinking of Laura," and "Ride Like The Wind."

• May 24 & 25: Daughtry at Epcot in Orlando

  Given that Disney parks are closed "until further notice," chances are slim this one is happening. The American Idol star has a second wind with his appearances this year on The Masked Singer!
• April 24: Elton John

  A rescheduled performance date for Amalie Arena.

• May 31 and June 1: Survivor at Epcot In Orlando

  Given that Disney parks are closed "until further notice," we're unsure about this one happening. So many great hits from "Eye of the Tiger" to "The Search Is Over."

  Figured you oughta know that the show has been postponed until August 17, 2021 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• June 27: Janet Jackson at Amalie Arena in Tampa (CANCELED)

  Originally the concert was simply postponed, but on June 10, Amalie Arena tweeted the show is officially canceled. They say refunds will be processed automatically for Ticketmaster ticket buyers within 30 days.

• July 2, 2021: Chicago

  This rescheduled show will be without Rick Springfield. The show will be at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• June 3: The Rolling Stones

  If you missed them in Tampa, you have one more chance to see the Rolling Stones when the Hackney Diamonds '24 tour comes to Camping World Stadium in Orlando. And if you miss this show, you'll have to catch them on one of their future tours over the next few decades... because even though the show is sponsored by AARP, the Stones show no signs of slowing down.

• June 18 & 19: Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett

  Miami's show will be on June 18. The next night the tour comes to Orlando. Then the tour moves north but comes back to Florida for a show in Jacksonville on July 2. Unfortunately still no word of any Tampa dates for the tour.
• July 8: Matchbox 20

  Rescheduled date at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa. This show was originally scheduled back in 2020!

• August 15: Guns N’ Roses at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa (CANCELLED)

  Originally the concert was just postponed, but on July 29, the band announced their new 2021 dates and Florida is not on the list.

  A night of non-stop Q105 hits... "I Can't Go For That," "Sara Smile," "You Make My Dreams," "Kiss Is On My List," "Rich Girl," "Private Eyes," "One On One," ... maybe even "Jingle Bell Rock!" We'll have to wait for this one though. It has been rescheduled for September 20, 2021.

• August 21: Journey & The Pretenders at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa (CANCELLED)

  On May 4, the band announced they have cancelled their summer tour.

• February 16: Rod Stewart

  A rare chance to see an intimate performance with Rod at the Hard Rock Event Center in Tampa. The last time Rod played the room, he walked out on stage and saw the small audience and jokingly asked if he was getting his normal fee.
• August 27: Santana with Earth, Wind & Fire

  This is the rescheduled date for the show that was originally scheduled for August 2020 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• September 5: Foreigner at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheater (CANCELLED)

  Unfortunately, the Juke Box Heroes Tour was called off May 19.

• June 21: Backstreet Boys

  The Bucs' biggest fan Nick Carter is bringing his Backstreet Boys home to Tampa for a show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.
• December 4: Jimmy Buffett

  If you've been to a Buffett show, you know the real show isn't on stage, it's in the crowd. This will be the 3rd attempt at making this concert happened. Jimmy had shoulder surgery that postponed the concert in 2019. Then our friend COVID-19 meant a postponement of the rescheduled 2020 concert at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
