Sweet Tomatoes Confirms It Is Closing All Florida Locations
Tonight Sweet Tomatoes confirmed earlier reports that the chain will not be able to re-open their 97 restaurants. On their website, they thanked their 4400 employees and customers. Those who purchased a gift card are encouraged to dispute the charge with their bank or credit card issuer.
The company got its start in California as “Souplantation.” The expanded to Florida in 1990 as Sweet Tomatoes. They had several locations here in the Tampa Bay area in Tampa, Largo, Brandon, and Palm Harbor. The restaurant offered an endless buffet with salads, pasta, soup, pizza, baked potato and soft service ice cream.
