Five 2020 Concerts That HAVEN’T Been Cancelled (Yet)

Fingers crossed. The concert I check for updates about 3 or 4 times a week is still on. When Motley Crue, Def Leppard and Poison confirmed the rumors of a mega stadium tour, I couldn’t get my credit card out fast enough. Glam metal, cheesy hairband music… whatever you call it, I loved it growing up as a kid.  Slaughter, Skid Row, Cinderella, Great White, Ratt, Britny Fox, KISS, Warrant… if they had hair 2 feet high, I probably saw them in the late 80s.   I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Motley Crue. Vince Neil sounded terrible live 10 years ago. He’s probably far worse now. I don’t care. This tour will is the soundtrack to my teenage years. The concert will be awesome… if it happens.

At the moment there are only 5 concerts left on our radar at Q105. Will ANY of them happen? It’s a wait and see game. Tampa area concert dates this summer for Janet Jackson,  Chicago, Foreigner, Guns N’ Roses, and Pat Benatar are off. Some have postponed. Some outright canceled. (Scroll to the end for that list.) While others have parked the tour bus for the summer, as of now, these 5 shows are still on!

• June 18 & 19: Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett

  Miami's show will be on June 18. The next night the tour comes to Orlando. Then the tour moves north but comes back to Florida for a show in Jacksonville on July 2. Unfortunately still no word of any Tampa dates for the tour.

  A night of non-stop Q105 hits... "I Can't Go For That," "Sara Smile," "You Make My Dreams," "Kiss Is On My List," "Rich Girl," "Private Eyes," "One On One," ... maybe even "Jingle Bell Rock!" We'll have to wait for this one though. It has been rescheduled for September 20, 2021.

• February 16: Rod Stewart

  A rare chance to see an intimate performance with Rod at the Hard Rock Event Center in Tampa. The last time Rod played the room, he walked out on stage and saw the small audience and jokingly asked if he was getting his normal fee.
• Cancelled: Cher

  The concert was originally set for March 26. Cher hoped to reschedule, but given the uncertainty of how long we'll be dealing with coronavirus, she has decided to cancel the show so fans can get refunds.

• December 4: Jimmy Buffett

  If you've been to a Buffett show, you know the real show isn't on stage, it's in the crowd. This will be the 3rd attempt at making this concert happened. Jimmy had shoulder surgery that postponed the concert in 2019. Then our friend COVID-19 meant a postponement of the rescheduled 2020 concert at Amalie Arena in Tampa.

  Figured you oughta know that the show has been postponed until August 17, 2021 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• June 27: Janet Jackson at Amalie Arena in Tampa (CANCELED)

  Originally the concert was simply postponed, but on June 10, Amalie Arena tweeted the show is officially canceled. They say refunds will be processed automatically for Ticketmaster ticket buyers within 30 days.

• July 2, 2021: Chicago

  This rescheduled show will be without Rick Springfield. The show will be at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.

• June 3: The Rolling Stones

  If you missed them in Tampa, you have one more chance to see the Rolling Stones when the Hackney Diamonds '24 tour comes to Camping World Stadium in Orlando. And if you miss this show, you'll have to catch them on one of their future tours over the next few decades... because even though the show is sponsored by AARP, the Stones show no signs of slowing down.

  Be sure to get there early to hear "Sister Christian!" Night Rangers will be the opener! Whitesnake will not be on this tour as originally planned.

• April 27: Pat Benatar

  See Pat at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater or in Sarasota April 24 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
• August 15: Guns N’ Roses at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa (CANCELLED)

  Originally the concert was just postponed, but on July 29, the band announced their new 2021 dates and Florida is not on the list.

  The Bucs' biggest fan Nick Carter is bringing his Backstreet Boys home to Tampa for a show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa.
