3 Arrests at Clearwater Motel In Child Sex Trafficking Sting
Dozens of kids were rescued in “Operation Not Forgotten” this week. While most of the activity in the investigation was in the Atlanta area, WSB-TV reports that three arrests were made right here in Pinellas County. The two week search for missing children was an effort to find victims of sex trafficking. In all there were 9 arrests. Three of them were at an unnamed motel in Clearwater.
James Garcia has been charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and incest with a minor. WSB reports a U.S. Marshal Senior Inspector says Garcia was found in the Clearwater motel with a missing 3 year old. Faye Smith was arrested on a warrant for probation violation and Sally Garcia is being charged with interference with child custody.
Congratulations to all involved in this effort! It’s awful knowing this was happening so close to home. Almost 40 kids are now safe from some truly terrifying circumstances. [Source: WSB-TV]
