Florida Department of Health Advises You To Avoid Beach in Ruskin
A heads up that bacteria levels are high and health officials are asking you to avoid swimming at Simmons Park Beach in Ruskin. Channel 8 reports The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County has put out the advisory as there is a risk due to enterococci bacteria. This stuff is in the intestinal tract of humans and animals. I can cause human disease, infections or rashes. And yes they say it’s likely “fecal pollution,” possibly from water runoff from the storms or pets or really disgusting humans who couldn’t hold it.
They’ll check the beach again in a week to see if levels have gone down. But for now, it’s best to stay away. Maybe go grab a bite to eat at one of these spots below instead. [Source: Channel 8]
