My First Ride on the Pinellas Bus to Tampa International Airport
The bus that goes along Ulmerton through Largo and Clearwater taking passengers over to Tampa International Airport began service a little over 5 years ago. So the 300x bus from the Pinellas is hardly new. I just have never had a chance to use it.
The PSTA 300X bus doesn’t offer service on weekends or holidays, which is usually when I fly. Plus they don’t run consistently throughout the day. I like to fly out midday and the bus typically runs in mornings and afternoons. So it’s never been useful for me. But for my Christmas flight, the stars aligned and taking the bus made sense.
I had to drop my car off to get some bodywork repairs done. Some rocks came flying at me on the Howard Frankland Bridge. My car was 1 MONTH OLD. Ugh. Anyway, the work would take a few days. The place doing the paint touchups was on Ulmerton right next to one of the airport bus stops. I had to fly out in the morning so this was a perfect chance to finally try the PSTA 300X airport bus.
So how did it go? Would I do it again?
So would I do it again?
If my flight time works well with the limited PSTA 300X bus schedule, I would definitely ride the bus again. I don’t live within walking distance of any of the stops along Ulmerton but I could take a short Uber ride to one of them. But at that point, it might be just as sensible to take the Uber the full way to the airport. It makes me wonder if there is much of a future for the 300X. I can’t imagine it’s profitable for The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority.
By the way on the flight home, my plane arrived late so taking the bus home wasn’t an option. So I had to spend $40 on the Uber ride back. So you have to factor that into your decision of whether or not to use the 300X bus too.
