We have some bright news for the Tampa Bay area! The city has just been named one of the smartest cities in America after being ranked by a new survey. Tampa came in top 20, ranking #15 making this list great news for the area. They looked at many different factors when picking certain cities to add to the list including infrastructure, sustainability, and the tech job market.

One of the big determining factors to be picked as one of the smartest cities in America is their green infrastructure. According to Newsweek, “The evaluation of tech infrastructure and connectivity was based on several factors, including the number of free Wi-Fi hot spots, the quantity and density of AI and IoT companies, average broadband download speeds, median 5G coverage per network provider, and the number of airports.” With Tampa covering so many of these aspects it’s no wonder we were just named one of the smartest cities in America.
However, there are 16 key indicating factors that truly identify the smartest city. With three main categories including connectivity and infrastructure, sustainability, and the tech job market it’s no wonder why Tampa happens to fall #15 on this list. Seattle came in #1 with Miami and Austin following right behind. Researches said, “Seattle, home to tech giants such as Amazon and Microsoft, excelled in tech infrastructure, boasting 34 artificial intelligence companies and 13 Internet of Things companies per 100,000 residents.” Tampa is now home to a plethora of tech companies in town. According to TampaBayMagazine, the top tech companies in Tampa Bay are Verkada Inc., VideoAmp, Pfizer, Rapid7 and more. It’s no wonder why so many people are still loving not only to Florida but specifically Tampa Bay. With all the tech growth here it’s made Tampa Bay one of the smartest cities.
