Popular Tampa TV News Anchor Leaving Florida For New Job
Sad to hear this. One of the most familiar faces in Tampa Bay TV News is heading to North Carolina. Last night Channel 8’s Rod Carter announced on his Facebook page that he has accepted a new position with WNCN-TV in Raleigh. He’ll be their new anchor weeknights. He says he’ll miss Tampa but will be back often. Rod tweeted me and said he’ll be on Channel 8 for a few more weeks before the move north.
Carter anchored Channel 8’s weekend newscasts and was their general assignment reporter. He graduated from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and is active with several charities including the Community Leadership Board of the American Diabetes Association and The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
