VIDEO: A Look Inside Florida’s First White Castle
Oh sure there were a few around generations ago. But for most, Monday will be the first time Floridians will be able to try one of those famous sliders at White Castle. The fast food chain opens the doors at their highly-anticipated Orlando restaurant Monday morning at 8. It’s the first White Castle in Florida in about 50 years and it’ll be the biggest White Castle in the world. Take a look inside!
It’s located near Walt Disney World just off I-4 at the corner of Palm Parkway and Daryl Carter Parkway. If you’re driving from the Tampa side, that’s pretty much just when you pass all the Disney exits but long before you get to the Universal ones. Follow I-4 East to Exit 71. Take your first left on to the Central Florida Parkway and then another on Palm Parkway and then you’ll see it on your right.
So what makes this one so special? It’s the first location that you can actually visit. The first White Castle launched a few months back as an app-based delivery service but it didn’t last. They had trouble keeping up with demand so they shut it down, according to Fox 35 in Orlando. This White Castle location is the full experience with two drive thru lanes and seating both indoors and outside.
No word yet of a Tampa area location but Orlando is excited to be getting what we already have… Portillo’s. The Chicago-style hot dog and Italian beef chain is opening a location in this same block. Of course, we’ve had those in Tampa for several years already. So will we get a White Castle next? Given the interest for this Orlando opening, you have to think it’s just a matter of time.
