Only 2 U.S. Cities Have More Relocators Than Tampa
It’s no surprise that Tampa ranked in the top 3 among U.S. cities are relocating to, according to Redfin. There are 4 Florida cities in the top 10. Data shows there are 2 other cities, however, with more incoming residents. One is right here in Florida.
Redfin says relocating from one part of the country to another is at a record level, up 26% since the COVID-19 pandemic began. They say the number of employees working remotely is bringing on the change. Makes sense. Why work from a place with high taxes and snow when you can fire up the laptop and do your work poolside? Most of the cities in the top 10 below rarely see snow.
Of their 2 million users who looked for homes, their research shows that Tampa is ranked #3 in terms of popular locations to move to. The only 2 cities that have more are Miami and Phoenix. Here’s the full top 10…
1. Miami
2. Phoenix
3. Tampa
4. Sacramento
5. Las Vegas
6. Cape Coral, FL
7. North Port, FL
8. Dallas
9. San Antonio
10. Atlanta
These results back up a story that ran on 60 Minutes over the weekend talking about how rents and home prices have skyrocketed in warm weather cities like ours. It’s not just renters and home buyers driving prices up, it’s corporate investors who buy the properties, fix them up and rent them out for top dollar. [Source: Redfin]
