Carnival Cruise Ship That Departed From Florida Caught Fire In Grand Turk
The Carnival Freedom cruise ship departed from Port Canaveral on Monday.
While docked in Grand Turk, it caught on fire. The fire started in the ship’s funnel.
According to Blake, a passenger on the Carnival Mardi Gras, which was in the dock next to the Freedom, “The Carnival Freedom’s funnel/exhaust system is currently on fire in Grand Turk’s port.”
Carnival released the following statement: Freedom’s emergency response team quickly activated and extinguished a fire inside the ship’s funnel.
According to a passenger, everyone is okay. “We are all safe and were able to disembark as planned. As to what happens next, we have no clue.” Carnival is assessing the situation.
