Disney World’s Tron Roller Coaster Gets Opening Date
The new Tron roller coaster at Walt Disney World is getting closer to completion. Now we have a good idea when it will be show time for this new Magic Kingdom attraction.
As we previously brought to you, the newest ride coming to the Magic Kingdom is TRON Lightcycle Run. Fans of the TRON movies will soon have the chance to strap into this ride. The roller coaster is currently under construction in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, not far from fan-favorite Space Mountain. They’ve been running test runs on the new ride.
During D23, Disney announced the ride’s opening. The Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom will open the ride spring of 2023.

The Walt Disney Imagineering team shared video of the first test run of the Tron roller coaster and it looks pretty awesome. The ride will reach speeds of about 60 miles per hour, and will take riders inside and outside along its track. According to WDWMagic.com, when the ride opens, it will use a virtual queue and Lightning Lane. There won’t be a line in which to stand. This is how they opened the “Guardians of the Galaxy” ride in Epcot.
If you’d like a sneak-peek into what the ride is like, here’s a video from Shanghai Disneyland, where Tron Lightcycle Run has been running since 2016.
Here are images of the construction of TRON Lightcycle Run. The outdoor canopy is a structure that will flow over the track. The lights will follow through the canopy which you’ll love to see at night.
Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new ride.
