Hillsborough County Closing Schools On Thursday Due To Tropical Storm Nicole
No school for kids in Hillsborough County on Thursday.
The school district receives information from local emergency management officials and the latest forecast track for Tropical Storm Nicole has it closer to our Tampa Bay area.
Sustained winds could be higher, and it is dangerous for school buses to be on the roads when sustained winds are at or above 35 mph. At this point, it likes we will see winds above this threshold.
We want our kiddos and teachers to be safe, so it is a for the best to keep everyone home.
Now our kids will be out of school Thursday AND Friday, because Friday was already a scheduled day off for kids with it being Veteran’s Day.
When you have these storm days pop up, the school district has to figure out how to make scheduling changes to ensure that the children are receiving their required instructional minutes. They wanted to make sure that the Thanksgiving holiday week remained intact, so the make-up day will be on January 9, 2023, which was originally scheduled as a day off for the kids.
Parents, are you scrambling to figure out what you are going to do about childcare now that the kids are out of school? I’m in the same boat. We are still planning on being at work tomorrow. It looks like driving conditions are going to get a little sketchy around the Tampa Bay area starting tomorrow at about 4 A.M.
