Tampa Bay Comic Convention Still On Despite Actors’ Strike
The Tampa Bay Comic Convention returns to the Tampa Convention Center for 2023. It runs from July 28 through 30. However, just weeks before the big event, actors went on strike. How will the convention handle this?
Tickets have been on sale for some time now. Staff has been assembled, and vendors have been preparing. The convention has been adding and announcing celebrity guests. Then this happened-the actors union SAG-AFTRA went on strike.
There’s a reunion of hobbits from Lord of the Rings that was scheduled to appear (Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan and Sean Astin). The Flash‘s Grant Gustin, actors Corey Feldman, Pauly Shore and so many more actors from every genre have been scheduled to appear.
According to Fox 13, the strike is not going to have a big impact upon the convention.
Dan Farr of Tampa Bay Comic Convention told Fox 13 that the show will go on. There may be some adjustments to how the panels are handled, but Farr expects actors will sign autographs for paying guests. However, things could change as the dates of event get closer.
Other celebrities scheduled to be onhand include: Giancarlo Esposito, Kevin McNally, Loretta Swit, Jamie Farr and Jeff Maxwell of M*A*S*H*. Actor and host Richard Karn and Bob Eubanks, Grace Van Dien of Stranger Things, Walter Koenig of Star Trek, and voice actors Maurice LaMarche, Rob Paulsen and Jim Cummings.
