Tampa Named One Of The Top Coffee Cities In U.S.
I have to admit, I’m not a coffee-drinker. I love the smell, but the taste? Not so much. It’s probably because my Father fed me way too much coffee ice cream as a kid. Regardless, I applaud my home city of Tampa for making the list of the Top Coffee Cities in the U.S.!
Did you know coffee first became popular in the U.S. as a result of the Boston Tea Party, when the switch just seemed like the patriotic thing to do? A recent survey by the National Coffee Association found that two-thirds of Americans drink coffee every day, with the average coffee drinker consuming 3 cups daily. Coffee consumption has also risen 14% since January 2021.
Science has tried to convince us that caffeine has all sorts of health benefits besides mental stimulation. Some studies say caffeine may contribute to good health I don’t know about that. There are also studies that point to the dangers of constant caffeine consumption. I think the real attraction is coffee’s social purpose. Coffee stations have replaced water coolers as a place to gather in the workplace, and tens of thousands of shops serve as meeting places for friends, coworkers, and even first dates.
Some cities have better coffee scenes than others. I’m happy to report that in a recent WalletHub study, Florida had three spots in the Top 10, and Tampa ranked #6!
- #1 San Francisco, CA
- #2 Seattle, WA
- #3 Orlando, FL
- #4 Honolulu, HI
- #5 Portland, OR
- #6 Tampa, FL
- #7 Pittsburgh, PA
- #8 Miami, FL
- #9 Sacramento, CA
- #10 Denver, CO
