Travel Tips For Thanksgiving Travel From Tampa International Airport
Things are getting at Tampa International Airport with all of the Thanksgiving travelers going in and out.
It’s going to be another record-breaking Thanksgiving travel season, according to Tampa International airport officials. Would you believe they are expecting 80,000 passengers daily beginning on the Thursday before Thanksgiving?
The busy travel kicks up a full week before Thanksgiving and continues through the Sunday after.
You can imagine with this many travelers, you could encounter some bottlenecks at TPA. Even though the airport is known for being easy to navigate and very user-friendly, plan for some extra travel time during this period.
In addition to planning for extra time, we’d like to offer a couple more tips.
Imagine how crazy parking will be, particularly as we get closer to Thanksgiving. Pro tip: book parking online before you arrive. You don’t have to stress about driving up and down every aisle hoping to get lucky and find a spot.
But you know what’s even better than that? Just taking Uber or Lyft (or getting dropped by a friend). You don’t have to drag your bags from long-term parking to the terminal. If you’re using a ride-share app, officials will direct the drivers to the Blue Express curbsides. Those are available for those travelers without baggage.
If you are running late when you arrive to TPA, when you hop on the tram to take you to your Airside, make sure you go to the front right corner of the tram. Then when you disembark, you’ll be able to pop right out. You’ll be first in line to get through security.
Overall, be prepared for the delays. And then they won’t get you down. Safe travels to you and your family. And Happy Turkey Day!
