No More Enjoying Tampa’s Beer Can Island Unless You Want To Buy It

Well, it looks like the party is over at Beer Can Island in Tampa. But if you'd like to buy some real estate, it's for sale...for 14.2 million dollars!

I have a memory about Beer Can Island that sticks out in my mind. We were boating out in Tampa Bay and stopped by Beer Can Island. We dropped our anchor and enjoyed the sun, sand, and a couple cans of beer. It's always a good idea to keep your eye on the weather forecast. away Not sure who dropped the ball on that. We headed toward Appollo Beach. Finally, we made it to a marina there and as we docked the boat, thunder roared, and lighting struck around us. It was definitely a scary experience. I have not been back to Beer Can Island in Tampa since that day.

The island is smack in the middle of Tampa Bay in between MacDill Air Force Base and Appollo Beach. It earned its name because a plethora of dumped beer cans always seemed to wash ashore onto the island.

Beer Can Island is currently owned by Carl Weaver, Johnny Gadd and some other friends. They purchased it in 2017 for $64,000. What a steal! Thanks to Weaver and Co., Beer Can Island now has tike bars, a portable bathroom (for all that beer), and a huge slide.

According to Weaver, who spoke to Fox 13 News, "This opportunity is exceedingly rare, as Pine Key is one of the only privately owned islands in Tampa Bay. We’re grateful for the outpouring of support we have received from the community and our members over the years, but all good things must come to an end at some point, and for us, that time is now."

The island will be auctioned off as an NFT for cryptocurrency, but cash offers will be accepted as well. Offers may be submitted immediately. The auction will start in early March 2024, and will end on April 1, 2024. The highest bidder will be the new island owner.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, I am ready to hit the beach! I live in St. Petersburg near St. Pete beach and I love it. If you love the beach and live in Florida as well, you have come to the right article. Before giving you the Florida Beaches that were voted the best, I'm going to tell you about the bad. Two Florida beaches were actually voted as some of the worst beaches in the United States. Have any idea what those beaches are?

The first one is Daytona Beach. This beach was ranked as one of the worst by Wallet Genius because of the rip currents, which can get bad. Also, there are a lot of shark sightings. Lastly, in 2022 Tropical Storm Nicole caused a lot of erosion and damage.

The second is New Smyrna Beach which is known as the shark capital of the world. They have had more shark bites at the beach than anywhere else. The reason, there are a lot of baitfish near the shore which attracts the sharks to come feed.

What's great is that one of these beaches is close to where I live in St. Petersburg. My radio station used to have our annual Wild Splashes near this beach. Any idea which beach I speak of? I like Trip Advisor because they let people decide what the best is.

Clearwater was voted as one of the best in the United States AGAIN. 12,836 travelers have reviewed Clearwater beach! I have also been there and I love it. It's for sure a vibe and great for spring break (if you can handle the big crowds).

No surprise that Panama city beach has been voted one of the best beaches in the United States. 6,607 travelers have reviewed this beach on trip advisor. I went here on spring break once and had a great time!

Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is located in the Florida Keys, so no wonder it made Trip Advisor's list. I'm surprised it wasn't ranked higher since the Keys are known to have the best beaches and attractions.
