In an effort to help drivers remain safe on a holiday weekend, AAA offers their Tow to Go program. It returns for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
The service is available in several states, Florida, Michigan, Georgia and North Carolina (Charlotte). AAA rolls out this service to help to prevent impaired drivers who may be celebrating the St. Patrick’s Day weekend by drinking.
Details on the AAA Tow to Go Program
If you are impaired and need a safe way to get your vehicle to a safe location, call the Tow to Go phone line, (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246. AAA will dispatch a tow truck to move the vehicle to a safe place within a 10-mile radius, as well as the impaired driver. The program runs on most major holidays. Also. it’s a complimentary ride for impaired drivers if there is no other safe alternative.
Tow to Go has helped close to 30,000 drivers who were impaired, keeping them off the roads, according to their website. This program has been in operation since 1988.
Important: The Tow to Go program is free and it is available to both AAA members AND non-members. It’s a confidential local ride for the individual rider and the vehicle. Also, you may not schedule an appointment. AAA says this is a last resort program and that all other options should be considered first, including that of a designated driver.
The service is active from 6 p.m. on Friday, March 15, to 6 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024. For assistance, Tow to Go can be reached at (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246.
