The Armed Forces Skyway 10K Race is happening this Sunday, March 3, and as a result, the northbound lanes will be affected by lane closures.
Have you participated in the Armed Forces Skyway 10 K? It is an incredible race that takes place each year. So gorgeous to run on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and see the sun rise. It’s truly awe-inspiring. If you are a participant, you’ll be crossing Tampa Bay 200 feet above sea level. Another wonderful thing about this event is that it supports military families.
Skyway 10 K Road Closures
Let us lay out the order of events as far as Sunshine Skyway Bridge lane closures go. First, the Skyway fishing piers will close at midnight. So don’t plan on early morning fishing there. If you have plans to visit Pinellas County on Sunda and you are coming from the southern direction, you will have to make some adjustments. You will need to find another way to go if your plans were for Sunday morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the northbound lane closures of I-275 will be closed at U.S. 41. The closures will commence at 3:30 A.M on Sunday. The good news is that those lanes will reopen by 11:00 A.M.
Here are some ideas for alternate routes. You could take U.S. 41, U.S. 301, or I-75. And don’t sweat it if you plan to be travelling on the southbound lanes of the bridge. All good. They will stay open. One other directional change to note: don’t plan on using rest areas near the bridge. Both the north and south exits to the rest areas will be closed.
