Denis Phillips Says “Sara” Could Impact Florida
Tropical Storm Sara? Hurricane Sara? Here we go again? Not quite yet, says Denis Phillips. But it’s something to watch over the next few days.
After dealing with two hurricanes, the last thing Floridians want to hear about is another storm. But there is another storm firing up in the Caribbean. As of this morning’s data, Denis says the chance of development has been increased to 80%. However, it’s still not known where this storm would go.
The next storm name on the list would be Sara.
Sara’s path is unknown
Denis says everyone along the Gulf coast needs to monitor this storm. While that doesn’t necessarily mean Sara would head toward Tampa, it could. Once the storm forms, they should have a good idea of the storm’s track and its potential intensity. But that won’t be for another few days. As for timing, it looks like midweek next week is when Florida could see any impacts. But again, it’s too early to tell right now.
Tampa area forecast for the next few days
It stays sunny and hot for the rest of this week with daily high temperatures in the mid 80s. Denis says temperatures will be 2 to 4 degrees warmer compared to yesterday. The good news is there will be a nice breeze to cool things down if you’re near the coast during the afternoon hours. But this weekend, we could see a bigger cool down. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will see temps dip to the 70s during the daytime and this weekend, we’ll wake up to temperatures in the 50s in some spots in our listening area.
As for what happens after that, it’s another game of wait and see. We’re used to it as Floridians. We just hoped by November, all this stuff was in our rear view mirror. But remember that hurricane season in Florida doesn’t officially end until November 30th.
