St. Pete Helping Restaurants By Allowing For Outdoor Expansions
We see the City of Tampa pulling out all the stops to help restaurants work their way back from the pandemic. St. Petersburg officials are employing creative ways to get the city’s restaurants humming again.
On Monday St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman held a press conference Monday. He requested restaurant owners send ideas to help the city get back to business during the state’s Phase 1 of the re-open plan.
During Phase 1, restaurants are allowed to serve dine-in customers under a 25% capacity rule.
Kriseman said, “While I believe 25-percent is quite a challenge for restaurants, I don’t have the authority to expand that percentage, only to restrict it. I have, however, authorized our city development administration to allow restaurants with existing parking lots or other adjacent spaces to expand their outdoor seating areas.”
Currently, restaurants can apply for permission to convert parking lots or other nearby spaces for into outdoor dinging space.
