We see people have slowly been getting back to work, but unemployment numbers in Tampa Bay have never looked worse.
The current economics show an unprecedented number of people who are out of work. In April, Tampa Bay had higher percentages of unemployment than seen in the state of Florida as a whole.
It was 13.34 percent in April. Specifically, in Hillsborough County it was 12.04 percent. More than 82,000 people are unemployed. Citrus County showed an even higher percentage, 15.76 percent.
Across the state, we see total unemployment rate of 13.33 percent.
Obviously, we are not alone in Florida. Forty-three states in the U.S. are mired in record unemployment rates.
