Have You Ever Been A Victim Of A Gas Skimming Scam?
I had a friend who pumped gas in the Tampa Bay area a couple of months back. The next day her credit card company alerted her to strange charges.
Sure enough, she had been victim of a gas skimming scam. She called that city’s police department and told them the gas station location as to where the skimming had occurred.
It just happened again in St. Pete!
The St. Petersburg Police Department tweeted today to residents to check their bank accounts because they found two skimmers on gas pumps a the 7-11 on 34th Street N and 5th Avenue North.
This is a really busy intersection, by the way.
Here is what was tweeted by the department:
SKIMMERS FOUND! Please check your bank & credit card bills if you buy gas @ the 7-11 @ 475 34th St N. SPPD is investigating after a client found fraudulent charges on credit cards used at the gas station. Thanks to 7-11’s vigilant efforts 2 skimmers were found. Case# 2020-030817
