Worried About Paying Rent In Tampa Bay?
With all of the job layoffs that have come about because of the coronavirus pandemic, many tenants are wondering how or if they can get relief on their rent.
On March 27th, the CARES Act went into effect. It allows for people who are living in federally-backed housing, 120 days of being protected from being evicted. Also, the owner can’t charge any late fees, penalties, or other charges to a tenant for late payment of rent.
However, for those who’ve lost jobs and are experiencing hardships, it will be difficult if they live in non-federally-backed housing. The CARES Act doesn’t help. There are many resources and organizations here in our bay area that can offer assistance.
