When Are You Really Supposed To Get Rid Of That Halloween Candy?

After bringing in your Halloween haul, you might be tempted to dole out the candy slowly to make it last. After all, the pieces are likely wrapped. But perhaps you shouldn’t.
According to Readers Digest, most candies, especially the chewy and sticky ones, will last about six to nine months. You could get a little more time with white and milk chocolates.
Jelly beans and hard candies will last up to a year, while dark chocolates have a great shelf life – sometimes up to two years.
As for if the chocolate develops a white “dust” on top, it’s still safe to eat. But do toss if the texture or flavor has changed.
