Former Rays Manager Joe Maddon Helps Tampa Bay Area Homeless With His Thanksmas
Though Joe Maddon hasn’t managed the Rays for about six years, we still love the great things he does to give back in our community.
The current Angels Manager’s “Respect 90” Foundation will give out meals to Tampa Bay-area homeless shelters as part of his 12th Annual Thanksmas program.
Respect 90 is partnered with Tampa-based PDQ and Glory Days Grill restaurants. Volunteers will bring the meals to Metropolitan Ministries and the Salvation Army locations in Tampa, St. Vincent de Paul in St. Pete, and Clearwater’s Homeless Empowerment Program. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place during delivery.
Maddon started the program back in 2006 while he was manager for the Tampa Bay Rays. It was a go through 2014 and then on hiatus when Maddon left for Chicago to be the Cubs’ manager. He brought it back to Tampa Bay in 2018.
Unfortunately, he won’t be able to attend this year, as he and his wife Jaye are in California and won’t be able to make it back.
