Florida Hospitals Are Among Nation’s Most Expensive
If you have to get medical care in our state, you know it is pricey.
The National Nurses United study looked at the most expensive hospitals around the nation and discovered that forty hospitals in Florida are on the list of most expenisve. Florida has more on the list than any other state.
Texas came in second. They had fourteen hopitals listed.
St. Petersburg General Hospital was the only other Tampa Bay area hospital in the top 10 priciest hospitals in the country. They have a whopping 1,546% charge-to-cost ratio.
With pricey treatments, some patients delay being seen, and this can have a negative impact on the spread of coronovirus.
Jaime S. King is a health law scholar witht the New England Journal of Medicine and said, “Failure to receive testing and treatment because of cost harms everyone by prolonging the pandemic, increasing its morbidity and mortality, and exacerbating its economic impact.”
