Publix Recalls Holiday Cookies In Some States, Including Florida
If you recently bought a holiday cookie platter at a Publix store, heads up, there may be a recall associated with it.
The recall has been issued in seven states, including Florida. The reason for the recall is PECANS. The recall is of Publix Bakery 20-ounce Holiday Cookie Platters. These packages did not list pecans as an ingredient.
A representative from Publix said, “People who have allergies to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
Those who have peanut allergies likely know the ramifications of consuming peanuts and peanut-related products, but in case they don’t, according to the CDC: “The most severe allergic reaction, anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock, may cause death.”
The recall issue arose because of a product labeling and packaging issue. The product has the UPC code 41415 88690.
The other states the cookies were distributed in are: Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. Florida counties Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Broward and Monroe are not included in this recall.
