Florida Sheriff: $30K Worth of Stolen Turtles Returned to Owner
$30,000 worth of stolen turtles have been returned to their owner, Lee County Sheriff’s Office says.
Earlier this week, a man doing mechanical work on a beverage cooler at Turtle Source in Southwest Florida was accused of stealing turtles. Thanks to surveillance video, LCSO says they have now been returned.
Marcus Cantos, owner of Turtle Source, says 47-year-old Jermaine Wofford came to the property to fix the cooler. However, reports say Cantos started noticing things going missing. When they noticed a turtle named “Huncy” was missing, that’s when he became suspicious. Apparently, Cantos decided to check surveillance video afterward.
After alerting the sheriff’s office, they managed to get Cantos to return to the property. That’s when LCSO made the arrest. LCSO says 18 turtles were stolen.
Wofford’s bond was set at $50,000.
MJ and the crew talked about the story this morning. Watch below.
