On Tuesday evening, a 10-foot alligator and an 8-foot alligator were captured and euthanized by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission.
The two alligators were suspected to be involved in the death of a man in Largo. The gators were euthanized, but now it is believed they were NOT involved in the killing of a 47-year-old man. This is according to FWC. Necropsies show no evidence tying the gators to the attack.
The FWC will monitor other alligators in Taylor Lake at John S. Taylor park in Largo.
The FWC released a statement stating, “Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim.”
It is believed that the victim was in the water looking for golf discs before he was attacked by a gator (or gators). There are “no swimming” signs posted around the lake.
