Should MJ Get Botox?
Michelle has suggested that MJ get botox. He wouldn’t be the first guy to get botox.
In fact, it’s a bit of trend right now. People are calling it “Brotox” when guys get it done.
We know women get a lot of Botox, especially in South Tampa. I’ve heard crazy statistics that South Tampa leads the nation in Botox sales. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported taht in 2020, women received about 4 million “forehead/face de-wrinkling treatments” (my words, not theirs). Men got their share, too. Over 250,000 similar procedures.
Recently, there has been a steady increase in men electing to do procedures to reduce their facial wrinkles. So what are the differences when it comes to men and women doing it? Women need less of the product because their facial muscles are smaller.
Dr. Bruce Herman is board-certified plastic surgeon. He explained that in year past, “people preferred a more total effect to the point that they looked expressionless. Today, I find that the majority of women prefer the maximal effect possible without having a frozen forehead. For men, I find that in general they prefer an effect similar to women but a bit more subtle on the forehead.”
Men will end up paying more for these types of procedures, as they’ll have to use more product. “For example, in the glabellar area [the skin between your eyebrows], for a similar effect, I start women with about 15 units of Botox and go up as needed to achieve the desired result,” Hermann said. “For men, I would normally recommend starting with 20 units and adjusting from there. Men commonly prefer a more subtle effect in the area,” he said. “So I’ll use a higher dosage per area in men but inject a smaller surface area.”
He explained that Botox generally lasts about four months for men.
I think Michelle just wants MJ to feel good about getting older and is just sharing some good beauty secrets. I love getting Botox, but I push it. I try to only get it once a year so that I don’t have a totally frozen looking face all the time. I like to let my muscles just do what they want to do sometimes.
Here is our discussion with MJ regarding his thoughts on it.
