Tampa Bay Bridge Closure Over Tuesday Night
A Tampa Bay bridge closure late at night will affect drivers headed from Hillsborough to Pinellas County. You may want to note this upcoming overnight closure.
Do you drive southbound on the Howard Frankenstein, er, Howard Frankland Bridge? Beginning 11 p.m. Tuesday night, you’ll need to take a detour until Wednesday morning. The closure is to allow for the installation of overhead sign structures.
The Tampa Bay bridge closure will affect southbound traffic, forcing drivers to take the exit to State Road 60 (Exit 39). Cars will be directed to the Courtney Campbell Causeway to cross Tampa Bay.
Once across the bay, drivers will be able to take the Bayside Bridge south to Roosevelt Blvd. to get into St. Petersburg. You can find a detour map from the Florida Department of Transportation here.
There will be electronic message boards and temporary signs to help guide drivers.
Another option is heading south to Gandy Blvd. to cross the bay on the Gandy Bridge into St. Petersburg.
The bridge is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning (March 29). Of course, this is all based on weather permitting.
