Howard Frankland Bridge Overnight Closure In St. Petersburg
As the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues construction on I-275 over Tampa Bay, occasional road closures are occurring. Here are the details on the latest Howard Frankland Bridge overnight closure.
Beginning at 11 p.m. Tuesday evening, the FDOT District 7 will shut down the Howard Frankland Bridge northbound. Traffic will be diverted off I-275 northbound beginning at Roosevelt Blvd. (Weather permitting)
There will be a detour to get across the bay. If you follow the overhead and temporary signs, they will direct northbound drivers to exit at Roosevelt Blvd., travel to Gandy Blvd., and then to Dale Mabry to reconnect with I-275.
Another detour choice would be to take Roosevelt Blvd. to Ulmerton Road. Drivers could then follow a route to the Bayside Bridge to cross to the Courtney Campbell Causeway to cross Tampa Bay.
Be sure to leave extra time if you drive on the Howard Frankland Bridge in the overnight hours. Plans are to keep the northbound lanes of I-275 closed until 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning, June 28.
The Howard Frankland Bridge overnight closure will give the opportunity to install overhead sign structures that will be part of the new southbound bridge project.
