Have you heard about Tom Brady’s mental coach? Tom Brady is known as the Greatest of All Time. And to Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans, he brought a Lombardi Trophy to our city. What made Brady so prolific and successful during his NFL career? It all started when he was in college and began working with mental coach, Greg Harden.
Tom Brady wanted nothing more than to be the starter at University of Michigan. Greg Harden worked at the University of Michigan and began working with Brady. Greg instilled some core mental coaching principles in him that Brady bought into and used to propel himself to legendary football status.
I loved chatting with Greg, Tom Brady’s mental coach. And I felt like I was getting my own lesson in mental coaching listening to him share his important tips.
Having covered sports, I’ve been close enough to the action to see that what makes the difference between a great player and a good player in the NFL or whatever league they may be in. It all comes down to mental toughness. Athletes are on somewhat of an even playing field when it comes to physical abilities. But it’s those athletes who are able to be mentally tough 100% of the time who find the greatest success.
Tom Brady’s Mental Coach On Giving 100 Percent
Greg preaches not only believing in yourself, but also competing against yourself. One way to reinforce that, he says, “…is to give 100 percent, 100 percent of the time, to the stuff you hate, how phenomenal are you going to be when you get to the stuff you love?”

Tom Brady: Here Are Some Of Our Favorite TB12 Products
The GOAT may be retired for good, but his health and wellness brand is still flourishing. Over the past two years, I’ve tried many of the TB12 products Tom Brady has released. Here, I’ll list those I felt worked best.
“The TB12 Method is modeled after the daily habits Tom uses to perform and recover at an elite level,” they explain on the website. In 2004, Brady met Alex Guererro, who is the co-founder of TB12. Guererro offered Brady a new approach to healing injuries and muscles. Together, they then developed muscle pliability.
By now, the story is very well-known. Brady and Guererro’s process worked wonders. It helped Brady not only play quarterback in the NFL until the age of 45, but also play at such a high level that many feel like he’s the best quarterback of all time.
Launch of the TB12 Brand
In 2013, Brady and Guererro launched the official TB12 brand, aiming to share the success of their method. In 2017, Brady’s book, The TB12 Method, was released. Shortly after, TB12 performance centers began to open across the country.
Though there are numerous categories of products, today the TB12 brand aims to simply help you feel your best. The ideology is simple. TB12 at its core, is based off of giving your body what it needs to operate at its potential. Fundamental behaviors like sleeping well, in-taking the proper nutrients, and allowing your muscles to recover serve as some of the most important principles of the brand.
My TB12 Methodology
I began jumping into various TB12 products for two reasons. The first was that as a surfer, I wanted to optimize my flexibility, and make sure that my body was prepared to hit the waves as often as possible (as opposed to being sore for a week after one session). Also, I just wanted to feel good consistently. That is key here.
In preparing my list of Tom Brady TB12 products that worked best for me, they each have a basic result that they are attached to. So, Let’s Go.
Electrolytes
Why: Regardless of what area of health and wellness Brady is discussing, he always mentions the importance of hydration. Adding electrolyte drops to my water increased the minerals I was intaking. Furthermore, it made me focus and track how much water I was drinking on a daily basis. The lemon flavored is my favorite. Oftentimes, I find myself drinking even more water than recommended simply because I enjoy the lemon kick.
Why: It tastes great, to start. It does not have that chalky feel that so many powder mixes do as they clump together in your cup. Secondly, it’s flexible. Meaning, I take the packs with me, and if it’s not convenient to make a shake, I can simply stir a scoop into water. I also found it to be very beneficial in serving as a meal supplement.
Why: Shifting gears here. This is not as exciting as downing a delicious shake, but it’s equally as important. Through the TB12 Method, I felt the impact of rolling out my muscles. Specifically, I roll my hamstrings and quads twice per day. Then I use the roller on any other part of my body that I trained or emphasized that day. It helps your muscles stay loose and not get too tense, which would restrict their recovery.
Why: Me and sleep have never been good friends. I tried this product out of curiosity and necessity. What I found was that it helped make the process of sleeping feel natural. Meaning, it does not knock you out like a medication. The sleep capsules helped trigger relaxation and getting my body to wind down naturally. This did not happen overnight. However, this supplement helped develop a routine that my body would get used to, leading to better quality sleep consistently. The importance of sleep in the TB12 Method brings it all together in allowing your body to recover.
So, I didn’t love every product that I tried. I struggled with this one. While these pre-workout shake powders mix well with water, downing this mix prior to working out left me feeling physically uncomfortable. I’d rather exercise on an empty stomach and then do the post-workout protein shake.
