Tampa International Airport Earns Top Spot: Best Large Airports In The U.S.
“We’re number 1! We’re number 1!” Say it with me! For the second year in a row, our crown jewel of Tampa, Tampa International Airport, was named the best, the numero uno “large” airport in the country by J.D. Power North American Airport Satisfaction Survey.
Even if you have no personal affiliation or tie to the airport, just by virtue of it being in OUR city, it feels good to hear about these honors, right? Well deserved! Tampa International Airport is large and in charge…and better than all the rest. TPA definitely qualifies as large, as it serves 23 million travelers a year.
Joe Lopano is the CEO of TPA and was thrilled about the recognition. “We know what Tampa International Airport does well, regardless of any scores or studies, but the J.D. Power top ranking for two years in a row demonstrates that our passengers recognize it too. As we continue to expand and adapt to meet the needs of our growing region, we hope to maintain this legacy of excellence for generations to come.”
Qualities That Make TPA #1
Here are the traveler satisfaction categories the study used to break-down and analyze all of the airports in our country: airport terminal facilities, airport arrival/departure area, baggage claim area, security checks, check-in/baggage check floor, and food, beverage, and retail.
You can see why Tampa International Airport is the best because it flies high in all of these categories. The terminals are beautiful with artwork, clean, and have great options for food and beverage purchases. Airside F is my personal favorite. Signs are clearly labeled, and the areas are properly siloed in baggage claim. Generally speaking, it’s a breeze to get through security. The TSA agents are friendly. And let’s not forget about a couple of other fan favorites at TPA…Phoebe the Flamingo and the amazing, spa-like family bathrooms (and clean restrooms in general).
Congrats, one again, Tampa International Airport; you are #1. And we know why!
