USF Considering 5 Possible Locations for an On-Campus Football Stadium
An on-campus football stadium has been a hot topic for University of South Florida students, faculty, alumni, and college football fans for years. Now, it may finally come true.
USF says they have put together a Campus Stadium Planning Committee, led by Vice President of Athletics Micheal Kelly and Senior Vice President of Advancement & Alumni Affairs and CEO of the USF Foundation Jay Stroman. Their goal is to create a budget, revenue and financial models, and marketing plans for the project.
However, one of the main topics up for discussion: where will it be?
According to USF Newsroom, there are 5 possible locations for an on-campus stadium.
- Southwest corner of USF, near Bruce B. Downs Blvd. and Fowler Ave.
- The intramural sports (IM) field near Juniper Poplar Residence Hall
- MOSI, right across from campus on Fowler Ave.
- Fowler Fields, another popular spot for IM games.
- Sycamore Fields, on the east side of campus near 50th St.
If an on-campus stadium were to be approved, Kelly told the Board of Trustees that he would like to see a completion date by the 2026 or 2027 football season.
