Overall, schools around Florida did better than expected in the school grades that just came out for the academic year that runs from 2021 through the middle of 2022. This news was recently released by the Department of Education.
On Thursday, the department put out grades for the 2021-22 academic school year. The press release from the FDOE stated that this is the first full school grade information release since 2019.
Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. commented in a statement to the public. He said, “It’s clear that our teachers and school leaders used every resource at their disposal to lift Florida’s students well beyond expectations. We know that these results are thanks to policies that kept schools open and kept kids in the classroom, which has been widely recognized as critical to student achievement. Today we can celebrate these incredible results, while continuing to support the schools that are struggling.”
There’s something called the School Improvement Support list. Schools do not want to end up on that list, and the good news is that 53 schools were taken off that list in 2022. Also, all of the schools that were graded as an F school improved their grades this year.
According to the FDOE press release, elementary schools, as a whole, did really well. Twenty percent of the elementary schools improved one or more letter grades.
