Plant City, Zephyrhills, Palmetto, Brooksville, Ocala… there has been a series of disturbing events that has horse owners in Central Florida worried. The Tampa Bay Times warns owners that horses have been targeted for thiefs who murder and slaughter them for meat. They also say there’s some kind of ritual sacrifice going on along I-75. Owners are encouraged to keep an eye out for slow-passing vehicles. There’s already a Facebook group of Florida horse owners with 3,000 users who share stories and tips. They say the problem is that horse meat can go for up to $40 a pound in some countries.
