Usually the lovable creatures have to worry about the cold. They think that several effects of the coronavirus are a big factor. They say there's been a big increase in boat traffic - and that means more reckless drivers, trash in the water and grass beds being wrecked. Plus there are fewer tours and operators who tend to oversee the care and safety of the manatees. 54 manatees have died in the area this year so far. 2019 was already the worst year on record and it looks now like that record could be broken again this year.
