Tampa Forecasters Give Monday Update On Eta
High winds closed the Sunshine Skyway Bridge this morning as the Tampa area has begun to feel Tropical Storm Eta. The Bay News 9 weather team tweeted this morning that there is still “considerable disagreement” in the models as to where this storm is heading next. But they do say Tampa Bay could see some issues along the coast. They say some in the Tampa are already without power this morning.
The Florida Keys took a direct hit last night. Grant Gilmore from WTSP says winds are at 65MPH right now and that Central Florida will see gusty winds and heavy rain at times. Leigh Spann from Channel 8 says we will likely see the rain and wind all week long. The Tampa Bay Times also adds there are two OTHER storms forming in the Atlantic. A nice little reminder hurricane season isn’t officially over yet.
Skyway Bridge is currently closed due to high winds. Plz find an alternate route for morning commute & remember to travel at a safe speed & increase following distance on wet roadways. pic.twitter.com/BJ0u55V29q
