Homosassa Man Scores $15 Million With A Florida Lottery Scratcher
Wow. Wow wow wow. A trip to the gas station has paid off big for a Citrus County man. I think the most I’ve ever won from a scratch off ticket was like $50. Richard Morgan of Homosassa just got the stimulus check most can only dream about. He won $15 million after picking up a “Billion Dollar Gold Rush Supreme” scratcher at Jiffy, a little gas station and convenience store on Cardinal Street in Homosassa.
The game just debuted last month so you may not have even heard of this one yet. It officially launched February 22. Billion Dollar Gold Rush Supreme is a $30 ticket. Morgan’s ticket was 1 of 4 grand prize winners out there somewhere. Besides the grand prize of $15 million, there are also 24 $1 million prizes in this particular game. The Florida Lottery website says all 24 of those tickets are still yet to be claimed. The odds of winning any cash prize with this game is about 1 in 2.6.
To play the game, you try to match any of your numbers with the winning numbers. If you do, you win prize shown for that number. If you get a “5X” or “10X” symbol, you win 5 or 10 times the prize shown for that symbol. If you get the gold bar, you win $500 instantly.
The 57-year-old Citrus County man went with the one time lump sum payment option so he walks away with a cool $13.2 million. That Jiffy gas station gets a nice cut too. They get $30,000 for selling the ticket. And they probably get Richard Morgan as a customer for life! [Source: Florida Lottery, Channel 8]
