Largo Olympian Wins First Gold Medal For Team USA In Women’s Taekwondo
CHIBA, JAPAN - JULY 25: Gold medalist Anastasija Zolotic of Team United States, poses with the gold medal for the Women's -57kg Taekwondo Gold Medal contest on day two of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Makuhari Messe Hall on July 25, 2021 in Chiba, Japan.
A huge congratulations to Anastasija Zolotic! She is an 18 year old from Largo and has delivered the first gold medal for the United States in the Olympics in women’s taekwondo, according to WTSP. She beat a Russian featherweight to win the medal. With the win, Anastasija becomes the first woman to win the gold in this sport for the United States!
The Team USA website lists her hometown as Colorado Springs, Colorado but her Wikipedia page says she was born in Largo. Her Team USA bio says the beach is one of her favorite things so we’re just going to say she’s a Florida girl!
