Who’s Getting the Jeopardy Host Job, and Who Should’ve Gotten It
8/20 Update: It appears that Mike Richards is already out as host! [Full story.]
Original article from August 5:
Variety reports that it looks as if Jeopardy has picked the show’s next permanent host to replace Alex Trebek. Over the past few months since the passing of the legendary host, celebrities have given their best shot behind the podium. But it looks like that might have all just been a stunt for ratings.
It seems like none of the big name hosts you’ve seen were actually really considered for the job. Apparently instead they’re just going to go with the show’s producer Mike Richards. Variety says Richards is in “advanced negotiations” to take over the show. All that “who will it be” could have been just to get people talking. Instead they’re going to go with a relative nobody that was already working on the show behind the scenes.
Mike Richards was the guy who took over as the big producer of The Price Is Right after Bob Barker left the show. Watching Price now is just not the same. I hate the new look and format. It makes you wonder what Richards will do to Jeopardy.
After careful consultation with my 92 year old grandmother who never misses an episode of Jeopardy, here’s who SHOULD have been picked from #10 (least deserving) to #1 (most deserving). There is a tie for #1 because she and I disagree on the best choice. [Source: Variety]
