The Village People and Lynyrd Skynyrd to Perform Together in Tampa
This could quite possibly be the oddest concert pairing ever. You might need a margarita to picture Lynyrd Skynyrd sharing the stage with The Village People. It’s happening… right here in Tampa.
The unlikely pair of groups will headline this year’s Tampa Bay Margarita Festival, according to the Tampa Bay Times. It’s been called off for the past few years because of the pandemic but the festival is back for 2022. Do the YMCA and then sing along with Sweet Home Alabama at Julian B. Lane Park in Tampa on May 28. By the way, if you’re a country music fan, Elle King is part of the lineup too.
The blenders will be blending over 50 kinds of margaritas. This year’s event also features fireworks, a food market, and of course the live performances. Just like Skynyrd, The Village People lineup has rotated quite a bit over the years, but original member Victor Willis (the cop) is still with the group.
Tickets start at $20 online in advance. If you buy tickets the day of the show, expect to pay $40. VIP options are available starting at $125. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]
