After the news of the passing of founding member Gary Rossington, many have wondered if the performance scheduled for the Florida Strawberry Festival Sunday will still happen. Rossington was the last remaining original member of the group. It left many fans wondering if the performance would be cancelled. Festival President Paul Davis says the show will go on.

Here's the statement just released:

The Florida Strawberry Festival announced today that Lynyrd Skynyrd is still set to perform at the 2023 event.

The band announced Sunday night on their Facebook page that band member Gary Rossington passed away. Rossington was an original Lynyrd Skynyrd band member, skilled guitarist, and songwriter.

“Our Festival has lost a great friend, entertainer, and music icon,” said Florida Strawberry Festival President Paul Davis. “Our hearts go out to his entire family, all his fans and to the thousands of people whose lives he has enriched. We know we will have a special guest and guardian angel watching over this performance.”

The Lynyrd Skynyrd concert is scheduled for Sunday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. on the Wish Farms Soundstage. Tickets are still available for purchase.
