Freestyle Explosion Tampa: The Lineup, What Seats Are Left, Ticket Prices
Saturday night (August 5, 2023), Stevie B and the legends of freestyle and dance return to Amalie Arena for a trip back to the 80s and 90s at Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam. This is the third year in a row the tour has stopped in Tampa. Other cities usually get the tour every other year. Fans in Florida always pack the house for this show, so they come back often.
As always Stevie B headlines the concert, playing classics like “Spring Love,” “Party Your Body,” “I Wanna Be The One,” and “Because I Love You.” The rest of the artist lineup rotates from year to year. This year, 80s and 90s pop icon Taylor Dayne returns to the roster. Taylor did a great show in St. Pete last year, performing her big hits like “Tell It To My Heart,” “Prove Your Love,” and “Love Will Lead You Back.” But this is her first time performing at Amalie Arena in years. See the rest of this year’s lineup below.
Are there any good seats left?
Most of the floor seats have disappeared, but there are a few near the soundboard. Those are much cheaper (about $60) than the ones down front near the stage. I like sitting in the soundboard area because that’s where you’ll obviously get the best sound and view of the light show.
You’ll still find seats on the 100 level along the side for about $50. Those are good if you’re not absurdly tall like me! There are some good seats left in the 200 level if you’re on a budget… those start around $40. The good thing about Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam is they curtain off the 300 level at Amalie Arena. That way there are no “nosebleed” seats. And when you consider you’re really getting about a dozen concerts in one night, it breaks down to about $5 per artist. That’s a deal in 2023.
What time does the show start?
The music starts at 6:30 when Stevie B’s Official Tour DJ DJ Slice hits the stage to get the crowd warmed up and dancing. At about 7:20, I’ll hit the stage to kick off the artist performances. The joke I always make on stage (which isn’t really a joke) is I hope you “go before the show!” Freestyle Explosion concerts are NON-STOP hits all night. There are about a dozen acts and they only do their big hits. There’s little to no time for a bathroom break. Downtime between performances is usually less than a minute! There’s a short intermission but it’s seriously short… like 5 minutes.
